What is Assertive Community Treatment?
Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is an evidenced-based model with a therapeutic set of intensive clinical, medical, and psychosocial services provided by a mobile multi-disciplinary team. Services are individually tailored and include case management, psychiatric services, counseling/psychotherapy, housing support, substance use disorder treatment, and employment and rehabilitative services. Services are provided in an individual’s home or within the community and include availability of multiple daily contacts with 24/7 crisis availability.
ACT is provided to individuals with a primary diagnosis of serious mental illness (SMI) and who, without ACT, would require more restrictive services and/or settings.
Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health employs nearly 400 people across 17 accredited programs in our 4-county region. Serving residents of Alpena, Alcona, Presque Isle, and Montmorency counties since 1968, we seek to provide comprehensive services and supports that enable people to live and work independently.
